OUR HISTORY

African Beekeeping Solutions (ABS) is dedicated to installing and maintaining honeybee hives to promote pollinator health and biodiversity. Through our work, we also empower communities by providing training in beekeeping, vegetable farming, and poultry farming, thereby creating sustainable income-generating opportunities.

ABS has positively impacted over 1700 households in the Northern KZN region, producing 10 tons of honey annually, and we are registered with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries under the Daff number MP175.

OUR APPROACH

Our beekeeping methodology meticulously controls for variability, allowing us to gather precise data on each beehive for rigorous research. Our clients encompass corporations striving to integrate sustainability into their business model, individuals dedicated to revitalizing their local ecosystem from their own backyard, and property owners seeking a turnkey approach to utilize their space for the greater good.

As an executive director and experienced beekeeper with 20 years of beekeeping experience, I have a background of working for prominent commercial companies and have developed a profound passion for beekeeping and community development. I am deeply driven, selfless, and goal-oriented, and I am committed to effecting positive changes in the lives of others through my entrepreneurial endeavors.

REFILWE RAMOHALALI

As a manager and facilitator, I oversee data and savings groups. I commenced beekeeping in 2016 and excel at community engagement, particularly with the elderly. My areas of specialization include data collection, organization, and savings group facilitation. I am wholeheartedly committed to driving positive change.

Sbongiseni Mdamba

Sbongiseni Mdamba became involved with the AHB KZN Beekeeping project in 2016 and has remained devoted to the cause. He successfully completed the project in 2017 and currently serves as a junior facilitator and beekeeper, displaying a genuine passion for collaborating with the community.
